The Seti-Karnali Rafting Festival has begun with the aim of highlighting the potential of adventure tourism in the Far West. The festival is organized with the objective of contributing to the economic prosperity of the province by connecting natural resources and river systems with tourism.
The rafting trip, which started from the Seti River in Doti on Monday, will cross the waterway of the Karnali River via Kailali and reach Tikapur. The organizers have stated that the goal is to test and promote the tourism potential of this region through long-distance rafting.
The festival, which was launched at the initiative of the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment under the provincial government, has presented a model of collaboration between the local level, the private sector and tourism-related bodies. The program, which was promoted by the Nepal Tourism Board, is also being promoted by the local levels of Bogtan Foodsil Rural Municipality and Kailali, Surkhet and Bardiya.
The festival is attended by 50 foreign and domestic participants, including rafting guides, drivers and tourists. Technical management is handled by Karnali Rafting and Adventure Pvt. Ltd. It is said that the festival has now been formally launched based on the experience gained from the previous trial rafting trip.
According to the organizers, the rafting festival will help identify new adventure tourism destinations in the Far West. It is believed that the combination of rivers, mountains and natural beauty can make this region an attractive destination for international tourists.
Inaugurating the rafting, Secretary of the Ministry, Dirgha Narayan Koirala, said that such efforts should be continued to move the province towards prosperity through the proper use of natural resources. The participants reached Dipayal on Sunday and started preparations.
