The number of students appearing for the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) in the district has decreased this year. Although the number of students has decreased compared to last year, the number of schools has increased.
This year, 386 students have decreased compared to last year, while 6 schools have increased participating in the SEE. Last year, 4,307 students had appeared for the SEE, while this year only 3,921 examinees will participate.
Similarly, 425 students have decreased in the grade increase. Last year, 1,055 students participated in the grade increase, but this year only 630 examinees will participate, said Pushkar Sharma, Information Officer of the Education Coordination Unit, Baitadi.
He said that examinees from 142 schools, including 138 community schools and 4 institutional schools, will participate in the SEE. Last year, only 136 students from community and institutional schools participated in the SEE.
26 examination centers have been designated for the examination to be conducted from Chaitra 19 to 29. The examination center for examinees from seven technical schools has been designated at Bhimdatta Polytechnic School in Patan.
The number of students appearing for the SEE is decreasing every year due to the lack of trust of parents in community schools and the high migration rate in the hills, said Narendra Awasthi, head of the Education Coordination Unit.
