Sudurpaschim Province Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah has said that the construction of the FAPLA International Cricket Stadium and Sports Village is a special priority of the provincial government.

In a meeting with Subash Shahi, Chairman of the FAPLA International Cricket Stadium and Sports Village Construction Committee, on Saturday, Chief Minister Shah took information about the progress and preparations of the project so far and said that the provincial government is committed to providing all possible support in the construction work.

Chief Minister Shah said that FAPLA is a 'game changer' project of the Far West and its construction has been given high priority and that the necessary budget will be allocated in the coming fiscal year. He also said that necessary coordination and initiatives will be taken with the federal government.

During the meeting, Chairman Shahi presented the progress report of the project so far and said that the provincial government should give priority to it in the upcoming budget. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of the Sports Village under construction in Dhangadhi have been completed.

Chairman Shahi informed that a budget of about Rs 11 billion is required for the first phase of the project. He said that coordination between the federal, provincial and local levels is necessary for such large infrastructure projects, and that instead of allocating a piecemeal budget in the sports sector as in the past, investment should be made in projects that will have a long-term impact. He said that investment from all three levels of government is necessary in large projects like FAPLA that are in the interest of the country.
