In the recently concluded House of Representatives elections, the deposits of 144 candidates in nine districts of the Far Western Province have been confiscated. As per the provisions of the Election Commission, the deposits of candidates who fail to secure 10 percent of the total votes cast will be confiscated. According to the election results, a large number of candidates in various districts of the province have had their deposits confiscated. The highest number of candidate deposits have been confiscated in Kailali, while the lowest number has been in Bajhang. According to the statistics, out of 305,122 votes cast in Kailali, 55 candidates have had their deposits confiscated. Similarly, out of 184,316 votes cast in Kanchanpur, 40 candidates have had their deposits confiscated.
Similarly, in Achham, 9 candidates have had their deposits confiscated out of 64,780 votes cast, in Doti, 5 candidates have had their deposits confiscated out of 52,485 votes cast, and in Bajura, 5 candidates have had their deposits confiscated out of 46,232 votes cast.
Similarly, in Baitadi, 7 candidates have had their deposits confiscated out of 73,148 votes cast, in Darchula, 7 candidates have had their deposits confiscated out of 49,968 votes cast, in Dadeldhura, 10 candidates have had their deposits confiscated out of 45,999 votes cast, and in Bajhang, 3 candidates have had their deposits confiscated out of 52,217 votes cast.
District-wise, in Bajura, Prakash Bahadur Shah (Nepali Communist Party) got 3,301 votes, Keshar Bahadur Shahi (Rashtriya Prajatantra Party) got 352, Bhupendra Lwar (Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) got 233, Deepak Kumar DC (Progressive Democratic Party) got 97 and Upendra Shahi (Independent) got 72 votes, but their deposits were forfeited.
In Achham-1, Om Prakash Rawal (Rashtriya Swatantra Party) got 1,739, Lokendra Bahadur Shah (Rashtriya Prajatantra Party) got 102, Lokendra Bahadur Shahi (Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) got 75, Bhim Bahadur Kunwar (Independent) got 41 and Surendra Shahi (Nepal Workers and Peasants Party) got 10 votes, but their deposits were forfeited.
In Achham-2, Sher Bahadur BK (Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) got 1,739, Lokendra Bahadur Shah (Rashtriya Prajatantra Party) got 1,739, Lokendra Bahadur Shah (Nepali Communist Party (Maoist) got 1,739, Bhim Bahadur Kunwar (Independent) got 1,739 and Surendra Shahi (Nepal Workers and Peasants Party) got 10 votes, but their deposits were forfeited. (Maoist) 558, Min Bahadur Shahi (National Democratic Party) 167, Pushparaj Neupane (Progressive Democratic Party) 113, Jhankar Bahadur Shahi (Nepal Workers and Peasants Party) 60 and Rajesh Rawal (Independent) got 52 votes and their deposits were also forfeited.
In Doti, Khadak Bahadur Agrawal (National Democratic Party) 594, Maniraj Bhatta (National Janamorcha) 417, Prakash Kathayat (Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) 392, Saraswati Kumari Pal Malla (Miteri Party Nepal) 43 and Khagendra Bahadur Shahi (Nepal Workers and Peasants Party) got 32 votes and their deposits were forfeited.
In Dadeldhura, Chakra Prasad Snehi (UML) 2,926, Govinda Khadayat (Rashtriya Prajatantra Party) 882, Gorakh Bahadur Air (Independent) 453, Mahendra Pun Magar (Shram Sanskriti Party) 260, Laxmi Dutta Bhatta (Jai Matrubhumi Party) 117, Tirtharaj Upreti (Independent) 107, Chandra Dev BK (Rashtriya Janamorcha) 106, Surendra Raj Bhatta (Nepal Majdoor Kisan Party) 70, Surendra Rawal (Independent) 33 and Khadak Bahadur Thakurathi (Aam Janata Party) have had their deposits forfeited after getting 27 votes.
Similarly, in various constituencies of Bajhang, Darchula, Baitadi, Kailali and Kanchanpur, a large number of candidates failed to get the required number of votes, and the election results have shown that their deposits were forfeited.
Overall, apart from the big parties, small parties and independent candidates across the Far West Province failed to get 10 percent of the total votes, and a large number of candidates failed to get the required number of votes. The candidate's deposit has been confiscated.
