The Nepali Congress has taken action against the father of Ain Mahar, who was recently elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Bajhang, for acting against the party's code of conduct.

Mahar's father, Ram Bahadur Mahar, who also became the then Subeda VDC chairman from the Congress, is also the former district chairman of the Farmers' Association close to the Congress.

The district committee has expelled him from the party on charges of being involved in activities against Congress candidate Prakash Rasaili Snehi, which are against the party's code of conduct, discipline and statute.

The Nepali Congress Bajhang has stated in a statement that action has been taken against him for defeating the party's candidate and making his son win.

Similarly, the press release issued by the Disciplinary Committee Coordinator Bark Bahadur Rokaya has recommended that Congress District Committee members Akkal Kunwar, Bhakta Bahadur Singh, Vitthadchir Rural Municipality Chairman Ammar Mahar and Tarun Dal Central Member Rabikumar Singh be sought for explanations and action be taken if a satisfactory answer is not received.

Some have criticized the decision, saying that Mahar was prosecuted for supporting his son, but no action was taken against those who have been affiliated with the Congress for years but have not voted for the Congress. 'Those who have been saying they are Congress for years but vote for someone else. There is no action against them,' says Bhumiraj Pithatoli, a local of Khaptadchanna, 'Will his father support another party after knowing that his son is a competitor?  The same is true of those who hope.'
