An election policeman has died in Melauli, Baitadi. Rajendra Prasad Bhatta, 38, of Melauli Municipality-6, has died.

He was found unconscious at home around 10:30 pm on Monday.

He was returning home after finishing his duty in the evening when he suddenly fainted and fell unconscious at home. He was taken to Kesharpur Primary Health Center for treatment by ambulance around 10:30 pm. The doctor declared him dead at 12:05 am, said Suraj Singh, Information Officer and Police Inspector of the District Police Office, Baitadi.

The deceased Bhatta was posted as an election policeman at the Melauli Area Police Office.

His body has been kept at the Kesharpur Primary Health Center and a post-mortem is yet to be conducted, Singh said. So far, three election policemen have died in Baitadi.

Earlier, on February 21, 38-year-old election policeman Mahadev Wad, a resident of Babet, Dasharathchand Municipality-4, also died. Mahadev, who was found unconscious while going home for food, was declared dead by doctors when he was taken to the district hospital for treatment. Similarly, in the third week of Magh, 32-year-old Prakash Chand, an election policeman from Dasharathchand Municipality-4, died after falling from a cliff.
