Devaki Bhatta, the municipal secretary of the Nepali Congress Amargadhi Municipal Committee, has resigned from both the party's responsibilities and general membership. She announced her resignation on Friday through social media Facebook.

Bhatta, who has been active in the Congress for a long time, said that she felt proud while working in the historic party. She said that the struggle that the Congress has waged for the people, from the movement against the Rana regime to the achievement of democracy and the recent political changes, has impressed her. She recalled that she joined the Congress inspired by the sacrifice, dedication and loyalty of senior leaders including BP Koirala, Suvarna Shamsher, Ganeshman Singh. However, she alleges that the current behavior, thinking and approach seen within the party has created a situation that is not in line with historical values and norms.

She said that the evaluation of honest, diligent and qualified workers from the local level to the center has become low, and that flattery, nepotism and favoritism have prevailed, making party transformation almost impossible.
