Baldev Badu, Information Officer of Baitadi District Police, informed that 387 muzzle-loading guns have been handed over as of Saturday.
More than 350 loaded guns have been returned in Baitadi. Keeping in mind the security of the House of Representatives elections on Falgun 21, the Baitadi District Administration has requested the return of all licensed weapons and ammunition.
According to the information, 387 loaded guns have been handed over to the District Police Office, Baitadi, by Saturday, said Baldev Badu, Information Officer of the District Police, Baitadi. However, no one has returned the bullets used in the guns, he said.
Although the District Administration had published a notice on Magh 20, stating that licensed weapons should be returned by Magh 20, the District Administration Office, Baitadi, has published a further notice and extended the deadline until Magh 20 since all the weapons have not been returned.
Chief District Officer Krishna Thapa said that the notice has been issued to request the surrender of licensed weapons in the names of various individuals to conduct the elections in a fair, impartial, fearless and peaceful manner.
The notice also mentions that all types of licensed weapons and ammunition that have been surrendered will be returned after Chaitra 20.
