Eighteen female candidates, including two independents, have entered the fray from the Far Western Province in the upcoming House of Representatives elections.

There are 16 constituencies in the House of Representatives in nine districts. Although the number of women candidates is low in the seven hilly districts of the Far West, there is a significant participation in Kailali and Kanchanpur among the Terai districts.

According to Dilip Bhat, spokesperson of the Provincial Election Office, the highest number of women have entered the upcoming elections here - 11 in Kailali, 6 in Kanchanpur and 1 in Doti. He said that out of a total of 210 candidates in the Far West, one was canceled, and three have withdrawn their candidacies.

Among the female candidates, Bina Magar of the Nepali Communist Party, Sita BK of the Aam Janata Party (single election symbol), Manju Devi Sunar and Rupa Devi Bista from Swatantra have filed their candidacies in Kanchanpur constituency no. 1, spokesperson Bhat said.

In Kanchanpur constituency no. 2, Premwati Rana from the Nagarik Unmukti Party Nepal and Laxmi Kumari Bista (Bhatt) of the Aam Janata Party are in the fray from constituency no. 3.

Similarly, in Kailali Constituency No. 1, Aam Janata Party's Rupakumari Chaudhary, Rastriya Swatantra Party's Komal Gyawali, and Nepal Mazdoor Kisan Party's Sunita Bhandara are candidates. In Constituency No. 2, Miteri Party Nepal's Samjhana Bista Thapa and Nepal Mazdoor Kisan Party's Laxmi Pun Magar have filed their candidacies.

In Kailali Constituency No. 3, Miteri Party Nepal's Sushila Thapa Magar and Nepal Mazdoor Kisan Party's Junu Mahatara Shahi are busy campaigning as candidates. In Constituency No. 4, Nepal Mazdoor Kisan Party's Amrita Bhul is the candidate, while in Constituency No. 5, Miteri Party Nepal's Radhika Kumari Karki, Rastriya Janamorcha's Shobhamani Joshi, and Nepal Mazdoor Kisan Party's Trishan Pun Magar are the candidates.

In Doti, one of the seven hilly districts of the Far West, there is only one female candidate. Miteri Party Nepal's Saraswati Kumari Pal (Malla) has filed her candidacy from here. The Provincial Election Office has stated that there are a total of 1.716 million voters in the Far West.
