7,058 Nepal Police personnel will be mobilized in the Far West for security during the upcoming House of Representatives elections to be held on Falgun 21.
The Provincial Police Office has stated that security preparations have been made in 16 constituencies of the House of Representatives here with the necessary security plan for the election.
Gautam Mishra, Superintendent of Police of the Provincial Police Office, Dhangadhi, informed that necessary security preparations have been made by classifying the polling stations into three categories from the security point of view: normal, sensitive and highly sensitive. He said that a larger number of police and election police will be deployed in highly sensitive polling stations.
The police have stated that out of 1,176 polling stations in the 16 constituencies of the province, 300 are normal, 395 are sensitive and 481 are highly sensitive.
According to the security plan, the Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Nepal Army will provide necessary security and election police will be deployed at the polling stations. For that, 13,669 election police are in the process of being recruited across the province.
The Provincial Police Office has stated that 16,193 women and men have applied for election police in all nine districts here.
Police have stated that while Kailali, Kanchanpur, Darchula and Bajura received more applications than required, the remaining five districts received fewer applications than required.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Election Office Dhangadhi on Friday said that election officer offices have been established in all 16 constituencies. Office Chief Premraj Bhatta informed that nine chief election officers and seven election officer offices have been established here. There are a total of 1.716 million voters in all nine districts of the Far West, including the newly added ones.
