The death toll in a jeep accident that occurred on Monday morning at Jhaulek near Bijaypur in Patan Municipality-8 along the Jayaprithi Highway in the district has reached four. Police said that three people died on the spot and one died during treatment at the District Hospital, Dadeldhura.

The deceased were identified as 24-year-old Nishant Bohara of Sigas Rural Municipality-1, 29-year-old Bhandev Bhatta of the same place, and 13-year-old Rakesh Rawal of Alital Rural Municipality-3 of Dadeldhura on the spot, while 27-year-old Basanti Air of Sigas Rural Municipality-1 died during treatment at the District Hospital, Dadeldhura, said Police Inspector Suraj Singh, spokesperson of the District Police Office, Baitadi. 

Six other people in the jeep were injured. He said that the condition of two of the injured is critical and the rest is normal. The injured are 19-year-old Bimala Air of Sigas Rural Municipality-1, 4-year-old Pransa Air of the same place, driver of the same place, 28-year-old Ganesh Bista, and 25-year-old Lalmani Bohara.

Similarly, 25-year-old Kamala Bista of Patan Municipality-8 and 32-year-old Birendra Bohara of Alital Rural Municipality-3 of Dadeldhura were injured. All the injured are undergoing treatment at the Dadeldhura District Hospital.  

The accident occurred when a jeep (number M1J 224) was travelling from Motinagar, Surnaya Rural Municipality-6, Baitadi to Dadeldhura. The jeep lost control and fell about 300 meters off the road, and further investigation into the incident is underway, according to the District Police Office, Baitadi.
