Women have been losing their lives every year while cutting grass in Baitadi. According to the statistics provided by the District Police Office, Baitadi, 48 women have died while cutting grass in Baitadi in the past three years alone.

According to statistics, 21 people have died after falling from a cliff while cutting grass in the fiscal year 2079/80, 13 in 2080/81 and 14 in 2081/82.

In Baitadi, it is customary for men to go to work as wage laborers and only women to mow the lawn. Women spend the whole day mowing large lawns. No safety precautions are taken while mowing the lawn.

The police estimate that the number of people who fall from the lawn while mowing may be higher. Only the number of deaths reported to the police after falling from the lawn while mowing is included in the police statistics. In some cases, relatives cremate the deceased without informing the police, so the actual number is not included in the statistics, according to the police.
