Patan Municipality in Baitadi has distributed electric induction stoves to reduce the workload of female health volunteers within the municipal area.
Municipal Health Branch Chief Madan Mahara said that since the Women's Health Volunteer Day on November 19, electric induction stoves have been distributed to female health volunteers of all wards within the municipality.
'This stove reduces the workload of health volunteers when they are busy searching for firewood for their homes,' he said. 'This saves their time and is also a mark of respect for the municipality towards them.' He informed that there is a plan to distribute this stove to 109 female health volunteers across the municipality.
So far, 94 female health volunteers have been distributed electric induction stoves and the work of distributing it to the rest is underway, he said. Along with the stove, a pressure cooker with an induction base for the stove and a karahi have also been provided.
Health volunteer Nirmala KC said that after receiving this stove, they will save time going to the forest to search for firewood. "Now we will spend the time we spend collecting firewood serving the community," she said. "This has inspired us to serve more responsibly."
The municipality has organized this program in honor of women health volunteers who have been making significant contributions to providing citizens with access to basic health services, said Mayor Gauri Singh Rawal.
