He reached Kathmandu after pursuing foreign employment in the course of work. He started studying Japanese and Korean. Along with language studies, he also started working at a mushroom farm in Kathmandu. He even abandoned his plans to go abroad and decided to return to his village. ‘My friends abroad also used to tell me about their sorrows. They started telling me about working in the fields and in the pig pens. And I abandoned the idea of ​​going abroad and am doing this work,’ said Joshi.

His farm produces 20,000 kg of mushrooms every year. The price of mushrooms reaches up to 4 million rupees. These mushrooms are not limited to Dadeldhura only now, Joshi is exporting them to Baitadi, Bajhang, Doti, Kailali and Kanchanpur.

In addition, Joshi has also started producing mushroom seeds, which has helped strengthen the economic sector. He sells 50,000 packets of 200-gram mushroom seeds annually. He earns Rs 1 million annually from seeds alone. He is producing mushrooms of the ‘Kanye’ and ‘Sitake’ varieties. The Agricultural Knowledge Center has been providing technical and financial support to his business. The subsidy provided by the Agricultural Knowledge Center is further helping Joshi’s business. Similarly, Prasad Dutta Awasthi of Ganyapadhura Rural Municipality-1 earns Rs 2 million annually from mushroom farming. He said that he can earn a good income by working hard in his own village. Similarly, another farmer from Ganyapadhura, Antram Joshi, also cultivates mushrooms commercially. He said that by cultivating mushrooms in his own garden, he can earn the same income as abroad in his own soil. He also said that there is no problem for the market.

The Agricultural Knowledge Center Dadeldhura has said that it is providing technical assistance to farmers who are cultivating mushrooms commercially. According to the center's information officer Ramsingh Bohara, it is providing assistance in the construction of straw, tunnels and water tanks.
