The regional committee has recommended the names of four people, including Congress leader Arju Rana Deuba, in Kailali constituency number 5. Along with Deuba, the names of Nar Narayan Shah (Manu), Dilli Raj Pant and Nrip Wad have also been recommended, said Pradeep Pathak, spokesperson for the constituency.
Pathak said that although three names from each constituency were to be recommended to the district committee, four names were unanimously recommended due to the large number of aspirants.
Shah is the former president of Nepali Congress Kailali, Pant is a current member of the House of Representatives, and Wad is the outgoing mayor of Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City.
Deuba, who contested from Dhangadhi constituency in the 2074 election, was defeated by UML's Naradmuni Rana. There was talk that she would contest in the 2079 election as well, but at the last minute she contested through proportional representation.
According to spokesperson Pathak, the constituency committee has set a time schedule for sending the list of candidates to the district working committee by Tuesday. The district will send it to the provincial working committee, and the province is in the process of recommending it to the center, Pathak said.
11 names have been recommended from Dhangadhi constituency for the proportional representation election. Pathak said that the names of Jeevan Rana, Gauri Kumari Lama, Maniram Deval, Sushila Mishra, Sunita Rana, Pushpa Joshi Bhatta, Nipa Chokhal, Jagriti Bogati, Tek Bahadur Raika, Pramila Lamsal and Nar Bahadur Bam have been recommended.
