After the split of the NCP, the Achham UML, which was suffering losses as many leaders of the then UML joined the Unified Socialist Party, is now in even greater crisis.

Leaders and activists close to UML's former vice-president Bhim Rawal, who were in turmoil for a long time after the party removed him from its organized membership, are once again showing enthusiasm.
Old leaders and activists close to Rawal are excited after Rawal joined the 'Matribhumi Rastriya Jagran Abhiyan' formed by him in the Nepali Communist Party, which is made up of the Maoist Center, Unified Socialists and small parties.
Earlier, the UML District Committee had earlier asked many leaders and activists for clarification, saying that those close to Rawal had spoken against the party. Since the Matribhumi Jagran Abhiyan was not established as a political party, those close to Rawal had also become inactive of late. UML Achham had taken action against six people for being involved in Rawal's campaign and acting against the party and Chairman KP Sharma Oli.
In which, District Committee Secretariat Member and Organization Department Head Prakash Shah, District Committee Secretariat Member Sagar Singh Babli, District Members Bal Bahadur Kunwar, Shankar Bhul, Ratan Rawal and Sanfebagar Nagar Committee Chairman Dhakendra Kunwar were removed from their responsibilities. ‘We should not support leader Rawal only when he is in power. We have been considering Rawal as our leader amidst a lot of uncertainty, putting our political future at stake,’ said Prakash Shah, the then leader of the Matrubhumi Jagran Abhiyan. ‘When leader Rawal’s well-wishers in the UML found out that they had met Rawal, they had to face threats such as expulsion from the party and not being given plans from the province. We, however, have always been with Rawal.’
After the then NCP split in 2078, the UML suffered the most losses in Rawal’s home district. The then UML leaders and workers had separated into three places, namely the Unified Socialist Party, the UML, and the Matrubhumi Jagran Abhiyan. Shah says that now the workers are happy that the UML is united on one side and the Unified Socialist Party, the Matrubhumi Jagran Abhiyan, and the Maoists and other parties are united.
He claims that the Nepali Communist Party is strong in constituency number 1 out of the 2 in Achham. Similarly, Constituent Assembly member Bharat Saund from Constituency No. 2 and UML district committee member Prem Khatri have joined the Nepali Communist Party, he said, and that the party will also become stronger in that area. 'Many who have been Rawal's well-wishers for a long time but have not come out due to fear of their political future are coming into contact. Since it was only the Matrubhumi Jagran Abhiyan, many were afraid that it had no future,' Shah said, 'We are now present as a strong party. A gathering is being held in the district within Mangsir to give a message of unity. There is also a program for UML provincial-level leaders to join the party.' He said that the party is also making internal preparations for the Falgun 21 elections.
After the split of the NCP, Achham UML, which was suffering losses after many leaders of the then UML joined the Unified Socialist Party, is currently in even greater crisis. The then UML leaders Sher Bahadur Kunwar, Govinda Kunwar, Kul Bahadur Kunwar, Balagiri Kunwar and other leaders and activists had joined the Unified Socialist Party. Similarly, after Rawal and many other leaders and activists joined the Matrubhumi Jagran Abhiyan, the UML had shrunk. Now, with leaders from two places coming together, the UML has to face more challenges in the district.
The UML, which had won in both the constituencies of Achham in 2074, was defeated in both constituencies in 2079. Although Rawal's name was the only recommendation from the district for the candidate for the House of Representatives from Constituency 1, UML was not able to unite in the district for a long time after UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli nominated his close associates as candidates.
A leader from UML Achham said that the party is closely studying the losses that would befall the UML if Rawal joined the Nepali Communist Party. A UML leader said that after Rawal merged with the Maoists and the Unified Socialists, his party is now in third place in Constituency No. 1. ‘Some leaders and workers from Constituency No. 2 have also joined Rawal’s party.’ The UML has not suffered any losses,’ the leader said, ‘almost all those who remain in UML have been filtered out.’ But some leaders in Achham who are now in UML have been kept under suspicion by the party.’
