Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City has prioritized and implemented 11 major projects including education, roads, bridges, toilets, etc. in the current fiscal year 2082/83. As the projects that were delayed due to the Genji movement moved forward, some projects have gained momentum from agreement to construction.

Dozens of projects including construction of school buildings, toilets, roads, parks and bridges are being implemented in various wards of the city in the current fiscal year. Of these, about a dozen major projects have been initiated. According to Engineer Kamal Ojha, Head of the Planning and Budget Section of the Sub-metropolitan City, major projects worth Rs 20 million to Rs 80 million are being implemented from internal sources. This time, not only roads and bridges but also 3 school buildings have been included under the major projects. Among them is the school building of Siddhanath Secondary School in Dhangadhi-12. The estimated cost of this building is Rs 80 million. According to Planning Section Chief Ojha, the contract agreement for the construction of the school building has been signed and construction work has already begun. Similarly, the construction work of the school building of Tribhuvan Secondary School in Ward No. 3 has also begun. Rs 26.3 million has been allocated for the construction of the building. The construction process of the school building of Behadabawa Secondary School in Ward No. 16 has also progressed. A budget of Rs. 22.4 million has been allocated for the construction of the building. These construction works are projects taken up under the education and infrastructure development of the sub-metropolitan city.

Similarly, 3 major projects under the road have also been implemented. The construction process has been started by selecting a road construction contractor to connect the village of Center Point 'A' in Ward No. 12, said the chief of the project, Ojha. A budget of Rs. 95.1 million has been allocated for this road.

The contract process has progressed for the upgrading of Behadabawa Road in Ward No. 16. A budget of Rs. 16.5 million has been allocated for this road. Similarly, the road connecting Ghale Chowk to Janakalyan Secondary School in Ward No. 10 is under construction.

A contract agreement was signed for the construction of public toilets in the last fiscal year. Under which it was decided to build smart toilets at five main locations in Dhangadhi, in front of the District Forest Office, in front of the Chief Minister's Office, in front of the District Administration Office and in front of Salta Trading. The construction work of all 5 smart toilets of the first phase has reached the final stage. It is estimated that 12 million rupees will be spent on these toilets.

3 more public toilets have been prioritized by the municipality in the current fiscal year. For which 11 million rupees have been allocated. The contract for the construction of toilets is being called and the agreement is in the process.

3 major bridge construction projects have also been taken forward in the current fiscal year. The bridge connecting Ward No. 4 and 5 from the National Ai to Shivpuri is under construction on the Kailali River. Its cost is estimated at 61 million rupees.

Similarly, the contract for the construction of a bridge in Jokaiya Nala is under construction after being signed. Its estimated cost is Rs 62 million and the contract agreement for the bridge over the Sarauta River in Ward No. 17 has been moved forward with an estimated cost of Rs 66 million.

Another big project of the sub-metropolitan city is Dhangadhi Park. The contract for this park, estimated to cost Rs 30 million, is in the process of being negotiated, said Ojha, the head of the Planning and Budget Branch.

The impact of the Genji movement has also affected the big projects of Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan city. While these projects were in the contract process, the process was delayed due to the protests across the country, says Ojha, the head of the branch.

‘We were not able to move forward with this contract process as the question of what would happen to the country after the movement arose. We have moved forward with the contract process for these projects that need to be implemented quickly once the situation normalizes,’ he said. Although the work has been delayed a bit, he expressed confidence that the project will be completed as per the target. But he says that there may be a situation where the deadline for multi-year plans may need to be extended.

Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City has put forward a large-scale plan this year in areas including education, roads, buildings, bridges and community infrastructure.
