An incentive program for farmers raising cattle in the Far Western Province is to be launched. The program will be launched in all nine districts of the province in the current fiscal year as part of the provincial government's budget.
Rajkumar Jha, Information Officer of the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives, said that the provincial government has allocated a budget of Rs 9.75 million for the operation of the program in the current fiscal year.
He said that an incentive of Rs 5,000 per farmer will be provided to 1,950 farmers rearing cattle across the province. The program will be operated through veterinary hospitals and animal service expert centers in all nine districts and the budget has already been sent to all expert centers.
According to him, Rs 1.5 million has been allocated for the program in Kailali, Rs 1.25 million in Kanchanpur and Rs 1 million per district in seven other districts of Bajura, Doti, Achham, Darchula, Baitadi, Dadeldhura and Bajhang.
Information Officer Jha said that in order to receive the incentive amount, the farmer must have raised cattle/sheep, be engaged in agriculture and farming, in the case of Terai districts, he must have a bullock cart (dallab) and the farmer must have a plow.
He said that the program will be implemented by giving priority to the same local level in the case of districts where there is an organic agriculture promotion program, and in the case of other districts, the program will be implemented by giving priority to remote local levels. Information Officer Jha said that arrangements have been made to pay the incentive amount through the farmer's bank account.
