Three hundred bighas of land belonging to Sudurpaschim University have been encroached upon.
According to the Vice Chancellor of Sudurpaschim University, Hemraj Panta, out of the 380 bighas of land in the university's constituent campus, Tikapur Multiple Campus, 300 bighas of land have been encroached upon.
Although the Tikapur Development Committee provided 380 bighas of land to the campus for the establishment of the campus in 2062 BS, the campus has been able to use only 80 bighas so far. 300 bighas of land have been encroached upon in the name of freed tenants and squatters.
The university has repeatedly requested the federal and provincial governments to return the encroached land, but Vice Chancellor Panta lamented that there has been no hearing.
Recently, the university executive council has decided to form a high-level investigation commission to return the encroached land. Since those who encroached on the university's land are protected by various political parties, it has been difficult to remove them.
