Two wards of Pancheshwor finally connected to the road network

Eight years after the local level elections, two wards of Pancheshwor Rural Municipality in Baitadi have been connected to the rural municipality center, Amchaura, by a road network.

Wards 5 and 6 of the rural municipality, which border Dasharath Chand Municipality, were not connected by road network until now, so the people here were forced to walk for hours to get municipal services. The elderly had to be carried to get social security allowance and other services. When trying to bring them in a vehicle, they had to go around three municipalities in the district.

Now, with the construction of the Mahakali Corridor, it has become easier to reach the municipal center from these two wards. ‘The track of the Mahakali Corridor has connected it to the rural municipality center,’ said Ward Chairman Naresh Chand of Pancheshwor-5, ‘The grading of the corridor track is not yet ready, but that will be done in a few days.’

The people of these two wards had the problem of having to travel further than the municipal center to get banking services. Ward Chairman Chand said that the obligation of having to stay for two days to reach for social security allowance will also be eased after the road network is connected.

Even when the bank tried to provide services in the ward, it had to go around three municipalities, said Samrat Singh Mahata, manager of Nabil Bank Pancheshwor branch. ‘For the convenience of the people there, we distributed social security allowances through Shivnath Melauli and Dasharathchand municipalities,’ he said, ‘Now that the road network is connected, it will be easier.’

When the rural municipality was already building a road to connect these two wards to the municipal center, the road was incomplete due to a land dispute with the locals. When the road construction started in the second year after being elected, the rural municipality chairman Gorakh Bahadur Chand said that the road has not been reached yet due to obstacles from the locals. ‘Now that the corridor has opened the track, it takes two hours for the people of those two wards to reach the municipal center by car, now it has become a bit easier,’ he said.
