Twin sisters and a girl studying in schools in Tikapur and Janaki rural municipalities have drowned while bathing in a canal, police have said.

Three people, including a sister, have drowned in a canal near Satbigha in Patharaiya Gujarwa, Janaki Rural Municipality-5, Kailali.

Three girls, including twin sisters, died while bathing in the Kulariya canal under the Rani Jamara Kulariya Irrigation Project, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Prakash Dangi, Chief of the Area Police Office, Tikapur. 

According to him, twin sisters Nisha Bajgain and Manushi Bajgain of Tikapur Municipality-1 Block No. 15 and Sulochana Timilsaina of Janaki Rural Municipality-5 drowned while bathing in the canal.

Nisha and Manushi were studying in Class 5 at Janajagruti Secondary School Sitapur in Tikapur and Sulochana was studying in Class 4 at Saraswati Secondary School Durgauli in Janaki Rural Municipality-1.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Dangi, Nisha and Manushi drowned while bathing in the canal while they were visiting their relatives. The bodies of all three have been kept at Tikapur Hospital for autopsy.
