The 'Vegetable Collection Center' built in Amargadhi Municipality-1 Dah of Dadedhura has remained unused for five years. After not being used, the center is becoming dilapidated and now it is surrounded by bushes and butane.

The center was built in the year 2075 with a budget of three lakhs of the ward office and was built to collect and sell vegetables and other agricultural products produced by farmers. Initially, only a few farmers put it into use, but the building could not be put into use after it was damaged by a landslide in the dry season of 2077.

'The building was constructed for the collection of agricultural produce, but it could not be reconstructed after the damage caused by the landslide,' said Amargadhi-1 Ward President Lok Bahadur Air. He said that the farmers did not show interest in the re-operation of the vegetable collection center. Some farmers were benefiting from this. It was not rebuilt after the damage caused by the landslide. The need for it has been felt again. Now there is a plan to allocate the budget and put it into use," he said.

There are more than 100 commercial farmers in neighboring villages including Dah, Tadiwta, Veta, Gholuna. Ganesh Bahadur Ayer, a resident of Dah, says that since vegetables such as potato, cauliflower, cabbage, mula, radish, and tomato are produced in abundance here, the farmers who come to the collection center will benefit greatly. According to him, the farmer does not fall victim to middlemen when vegetables are collected and sold at the center. "If we keep the vegetables from the farms in the center and sell them directly to the traders, we will get a better price," he said, "if this is used, it will benefit us." Because of this, the farmers are having problems to get the expected profit.

According to Rudra Bahadur Air, a farmer from Veta, no initiative has been taken to repair the building after the landslide damaged it. He, who is also the chairman of Khadeli Baba Multi-Purpose Farmers Group, said, "The center was built with the aim of bringing the farmers' produce and collecting it here and selling it to traders." According to him, only a few farmers used this collection center. Others consume vegetables in the local market. However, this center seems necessary for the farmers who sell vegetables from here to Terai district. "It is necessary for the local government to put in a budget and make a plan for reconstruction and operation," he added.

The farmers say that the reconstruction and regular operation of the collection center is necessary for the production increase of the local farmers and easy access to the market. The local government does not seem to pay attention to the reconstruction of such constructions, which have been carried out with a small budget. Farmers say that it will affect the fair price of agricultural produce and access to the market, so it is necessary to take immediate steps to repair it.
