Ex-Administrator in the service of remote

What you should know

Rich or poor, big or small. Some find themselves wanting to keep their relationship alive with their remote residents. They are trying and wanting to contribute as much as possible. They feel joy in that.

Atmaram Pandey is an ex-administrator who keeps running to contribute something for the remote as a volunteer. The first such family in Nepal, in which all three brothers became CDIOs, regional administrators and secretaries.

Anantaraj Pandey, the eldest son of Kashiraj Pandey of Birgha, Kaligandki Rural Municipality-4, retired from service as Home Secretary, Maila Shankar Prashad Pandey from Education Secretary and the younger Atmaram Pandey from Defense Secretary .

Most of the officials who have reached the highest level of government service are racing for various high-level appointments as soon as they retire from their service, with the sign of political closeness. While some of them are approaching retirement, they are spending energy to secure positions in national and international non-governmental organizations and donor agencies.

But the exception, Atmaram Pandey, retired from the defense secretary, was never attracted to such an appointment. If he had run, he too could have easily got an appointment in some place. After his retirement from government service, he chose the path of contributing to the service of the poor.

Around 1969, when he was the regional administrator of the then Far Western Development Zone, Pandey saw the plight, lack, poverty and deprivation of the hilly districts of the Far West. Hola Pandey mingled with the common people because of his nature to never present the friendly behavior of the post.

Become a witness, become a friend of the happiness experienced by the common people of remote hills. In addition, the condition of Bajura, which is at the bottom of human development, made him extremely sad. That is why he made sure to contribute whatever he could for Bajura after retirement.  To break the story, Pandey took the Far West for the first time during the National Development Service from Tribhuvan University in 034. At that time, for 10 months, he led the construction of a drinking water scheme in Khatyadi Secondary School in the then Chamra Chautara village panchayat of Doti.

Before entering the government service, he was determined to contribute to the service of the Far West even after his retirement period which started from the Far West.

When Pandey, who entered the government service from an official position in 038 and retired in 070, was the regional administrator in Far West, the road transport service did not reach Bajura headquarters Martadi. Even though the track was opened, the residents of the district were protesting for the construction of a bridge on the Budhiganga river in Jadanga, but they were not being listened to. After reaching Martadi on foot, he made a promise to the district residents to initiate the establishment of a Beilibridge in Budhiganga.

"After he immediately returned to Kathmandu and took a lot of initiative with the relevant agencies, the bell bridge became possible," said Pandey, "I ran to the Ministry of Physical Affairs several times for the establishment of the bell bridge." Due to the fact that the trial was not conducted on time, violence erupted in Bajura headquarters. There was a situation where the chief district officer was locked in the office and the district administration building was set on fire. Sidio's residence was completely burnt down.'

Pandey's list of contributions in various areas of Bajura is long. He has provided school bags to 250 students of Bichhya Mavi, which is the worst in Bajura, school bags to 588 students of Masteshwari Mavi in Khaptad Chededah, 310 students of Parvati Mavi in Triveni Municipality, 87 students of Masteshwari Basic School in Tribeni, and 147 students of basic schools in the budget of Budhiganga Municipality.

During this period, efforts have been made to provide drinking water facilities in some of the poor settlements of Bajura . "Water supply in Birsen Mavi in Budhinanda, two water supply schemes in Chankot and Ghangeri in Khaptad Chededah 5 have been completed," said Pandey, "I am also trying to raise resources for the construction of water supply schemes in the Dalit slums of the same ward".

Pandey is not working by establishing any organization to help the remote. "I try to request my acquaintances and friends to help them," he said. I have used my personal and family contacts in financial institutions, government agencies. It is old after feeling.'
