Sudurpaschim University Central Campus SWIU Election Uncertain

What you should know

Sudurpaschim University's central campus election at Mahendranagar has become uncertain. After the scheduled election on 14th July could not be held, the next date could not be announced, so the election has become uncertain.

In the university's individual campuses, last year, the SWVYU elections have already been held. But in the central campus, it has been postponed twice, last year in March and this time. "The election could not be held on the specified date, another date has not been announced for now," said the coordinator of the election committee, Karnadev Bhatt, "Swaviyu elections are uncertain now." For the election to be held on July 14, nominations were scheduled on July 6. On the day of the nomination, there was a clash between the students of Navy Sangh and Aneraswaviyu revolutionaries. Some students were also injured in the clash. The police also lathi-charged. After that, the nomination could not be done.

"While we were discussing, there was a dispute after revolutionary students sprayed petrol, then the whole process was stopped," said Indra Saud, a central member of the Navy Union. According to that, 7 organizations and 3 independent groups have been registered, said coordinator Bhatt. After the nomination on the 6th was postponed, the date of the nomination was also postponed on the 9th. But even on that day, no agreement could be reached between the student organizations.

"We have asked to stop the nomination because the election committee that has resigned over petrol sprinkling while the discussion is going on cannot work again," said Kamal Rokaya, state secretary of ANERASWAVIU.

A group of independent students also locked the office of the election committee before the nomination date. They locked in protest against the revised rules on elections. According to the old regulations, the term of the student's study period also ends when the student's study period ends. But in the revised regulations, even if the studies are completed, the tenure will be completed within the prescribed time. The regulation was amended by the university's senate held in February 2081.

The controversy flared up after the election committee unilaterally broke the lock imposed by the independent students. A situation of clashes was created when the same issue was being discussed. Dal Bahadur Dhami, district president of Aneraswaviyu Krantikari, alleged that the elections could not be held because the student organization of the ruling party, New Union and Aneraswaviyu, did not want it. He said that the revolutionaries have tried their best for the election and once again the election should be declared immediately.
