In view of the panchayat elections to be held in Uttarakhand state of India, the checkpoints connected to Darchula have been closed for 72 hours.

The district administration has informed that all border crossings with India have been closed from this morning till the completion of the election process on 8th July.

According to the district administration office, elections for panchayats, regional panchayats and district panchayats are being held in two phases on July 8 and 12 in the Uttarakhand state of India. 

In view of the security of the same election, it has been decided to close the border posts of Darchula for 72 hours in coordination with the local administrations of both countries, said Anil Poudel, Chief District Officer of District Administration Office, Darchula.

India's Uttarakhand will vote for Gram Panchayat, Kshetra Panchayat and Zilla Panchayat on July 24. Lali, Baku, Jauljivi, Dattu, Khalanga Pulghat, Badugaon, Tigram, Malghatte, Malghat and Sitapul ports of Darchula are connected with India.
