The number of cases registered in the District Police Office Dadeldhura has increased in the last financial year compared to the previous financial year. While 99 cases were registered in 2079/80, 190 cases were registered in 2081/82. In 080/81 there were only 120 cases.

According to District Police Office Dadeldhura police inspector Dumbar Bista, out of 190 cases registered, 111 cases have been dismissed. According to him, there is a legal process to wait for 2 years in cases such as suicide and loss of fortune. Among the cases registered as

s, the most common cases are domestic violence, banking offences, indecent behavior, drug dealing, suicide, rape and child sexual abuse.

Out of 42 complaints of domestic violence received during one year, 33 complaints were cleared by the police, the rest were taken to the court process. According to the police, 14 complaints of violence against women have been settled.

32 cases of banking offenses have been registered. 20 of them have been completed and the rest are under consideration. Check bounce, loan recovery cases fall under banking offences. Similarly, 27 cases related to indecent behavior have been registered. Out of them, 25 cases have been resolved. Such cases are registered against people who engage in general quarrels, verbal abuse, fistfights and disorderly activities in public places.

According to police data, 26 cases of suicide by hanging were registered in Dadeldhura last year alone. Police research shows that social, mental, economic and family reasons are factors in suicide. Similarly, 4 cases related to incitement to suicide have been registered. Due to the lack of counseling and mental health services, many people lose their problems in silence and eventually commit suicide.

There seems to be an increase in the incidence of sexual violence. 8 cases of rape have been registered. Among them, 7 cases have been disposed of and 1 case is in the court process. 4 cases of child sexual abuse were registered last year.  These numbers are only reported incidents. In rural areas, sexual violence incidents are more likely to be hidden," says Police Inspector Bista, "It is necessary to spread awareness in the community to create a situation where the victim can speak out." The police said that in recent years, awareness programs have been prioritized under the community-police partnership program. According to the police, programs such as reaching the police school, organizing discussions in villages and groups, cooperating with women's groups, conducting security training by coordinating local surveillance have been carried out. However, in practice, the effectiveness of these programs is very limited. Mental health problems, unemployment, mutual animosity, poverty and wrong use of modern technology have become the reasons for the increase in crime in the

district. It seems necessary to make anti-crime orientation compulsory in education, health and social programs run at the local level. Stakeholders say that curriculum on mental health, cyber crime and sexual violence should be included at the school level.
