Jungle Safari in Shuklaphanta is closed after the road is damaged by rain

The jungle safari in Shuklaphanta National Park has been closed after the road inside the park has been damaged due to rain. Purushottam Wagle, conservation officer of the park, said that the safari was stopped after the tourists started suffering when the vehicle got stuck in the mud while going for the safari.

The main safari route from Majhgaon, the park's headquarters, to the grasslands and the road around the area has been damaged. Because of this, the vehicles that went on safari got stuck and it became difficult to rescue them, so it was closed. "After the vehicle got stuck, the tourists started suffering," Conservation Officer Wagle said. Although gravel and pitch are made in some places, it is difficult to drive on unpaved roads due to mud.

According to the park office, 111 people, including 24 foreigners, went on a jungle safari until the safari was closed in June. Before that, 3,611 people have entered Shuklaphanta till May. "The main sightseeing spot of the park is the Shuklaphanta grassland, it becomes difficult when the road to get there is bad," said conservation officer Wagle. The grassland is the main habitat of twelve hornbills. Tourists reach this place to see thousands of elephants. According to the latest count, there are more than 2,300 twelve horns in Shuklafam. Apart from this, tigers, rhinos, elephants, krishnasar, chittallagat wildlife are the major attractions here. According to the latest count, there are 42 adult tigers in the park.

Stakeholders from the local level to the state and federal government have been demanding to build the road inside the park so that it can be opened within twelve months. But due to lack of necessary budget allocation, such a road has not been constructed. "Now the safari can be resumed only after the monsoon ends," Conservation Officer Wagle said.
