According to prison sources, the number of people involved in the crime of drug trafficking, consumption and dealing has been increasing in recent years. "Currently, 50 percent of the prisoners in the prison have been arrested for drug-related crimes," says an employee of the prison. There is a separate room and hall for male prisoners. For the security of the prison, a police team from the district police office is stationed in the prison premises. According to Jailer Khatri, preparations are being made to build a new modern physical infrastructure in place of the current old structure of Kailali Jail. "A detailed project report costing 540 crores for new physical infrastructure has been prepared and sent to the department," Jailer Khatri said, "It is not known when the new jail will be built, but the process has already started."
