Paddy Day is celebrated by playing Deuda while planting paddy in Dadeldhura.
The farmers planted according to the traditional culture, sang Deuda, rejoiced in the mud and expressed the feeling of mutual support.
Kalapati Devi Bhandari said that celebrating the day by eating curd and chiura, respecting the tradition of 'planting mano and growing muri'.
The 22nd 'National Paddy Day and Planting Festival 2082' was celebrated in Saund village located in Amargadhi Municipality-3 of Dadeldhura with the main slogan of 'Intensification in paddy cultivation: food security and self-reliance'. Farmers, representatives of government and non-government offices in the district were present in the program.
It is estimated that paddy cultivation will be done on 6,120 hectares in Dadeldhura this year. So far, more than 60 percent of the area has been planted with rice, said Narendra Paneru, head of Krishi Gyan Kendra Dadeldhura. According to him, recently farmers are leaving the traditional farming system and getting attracted to mechanized and modern technology.
