The Doti branch of the Nepal Journalist Federation has said that it has drawn serious attention to the incident of threats to journalists by construction workers based on writing news.
On the 11th of June, it has been revealed that Ravi Prakash Singh, the owner of JDMR Builders Pvt. Ltd., Kathmandu, abused and threatened Doti Correspondent Mohan Paneru of Kantipur over the phone with serious accusations, regarding the news titled 'Kam Chikhi Contractor Farrar' published in E-Kantipur Online. The
Federation has issued a statement and has considered the act as indecent, chaotic and an attack on independent journalism. In case of dissatisfaction with the news, the way to go to the legal remedy or the established process is open, the federation has condemned such threatening behavior. In a statement issued by the secretary of the Federation, Bikram Khadka, the relevant agencies have been requested to take necessary action against the culprits and create a favorable environment for the protection of journalism.
Similarly, Nepal Journalist Federation Sudurpaschim Province Committee and Nepal Press Union Doti Branch have also issued a statement and demanded to take necessary action against the culprits and create a free, safe and fearless journalism environment .
