7-year-old Siddharth Rai of Dodhara Chandni Municipality-4 Lakshmi Chowrah near Mahakali was playing in the yard last week in the evening. A snake bit him when he reached the nearby toilet. But neither the child nor the family knew about this. The family members came to know only after the effects of the snake bite increased.

Then they took the child to primary health center in Dodhara Chandni. There was no treatment. They took the child to Mahakali Regional Hospital in Mahendranagar. The child was torn by the pain of the snakebite.

The child was kept in the ICU at the Mahakali Regional Hospital. After being treated in the ICU for three days, the child regained consciousness. On Sunday, he was transferred to the general ward and is being treated. Siddharth's mother Shobha Rai said, "He has recovered now, there is only a wound on his leg. We were scared."

Until a few years ago, most of the snakebite patients who reached the Mahakali Provincial Hospital were 'referred' elsewhere. The hospital was facing problems in treatment due to lack of ICU system here. That's why they didn't want to take risks. For the last 5 years, the snakebite patients who came to the Mahakali Regional Hospital have returned home with 100% recovery. Even from India, snakebite patients come to Mahakali Regional Hospital for treatment.

Hospitals are getting success in treating snakebite due to trained health workers and appropriate equipment. "We have worked very hard in the treatment of snakebites, and we have been successful accordingly," said the acting medical superintendent of the hospital, Dr. Arjur Bhatt said, "In the past, they did not believe in bringing patients here, now they are convinced of the reliable treatment here." However, patients from those areas who have complicated conditions have been sent to the hospital. "Poisonous snakes don't bite many people, but they come in fear," Dr. Bhatt said, "Among the venomous ones, there are cases of snake bite and snake bite." He said that if you are bitten by a venomous snake, you should leave it alone and take it to the hospital on time and take it to the hospital in time.

182 snakebite patients have come to Mahakali Regional Hospital in the last 4 years. 13 of them are under 5 years old. Since May 20 this year, 17 patients have been treated. 13 of them were admitted to the ICU. In Jogbuda in Parashuram municipality of Dadeldhura, a snakebite patient died this week due to exposure to Jharphuk. "Many of them start at Zharfuk and in the last case they bring the hospital," said Dr. Bhatt said, "If you bring the hospital on time, you can save the patient in any case."
