More than 3,500 tourists have entered Shuklaphanta National Park this year. According to the park office, until May, most of the domestic and few foreign tourists have entered for sightseeing.
According to the park office, 3,284 domestic tourists, 176 from SAARC countries and 151 from other foreign countries have visited 3,611 tourists here. Which is less than last financial year.
In the last fiscal year, 4,050 Nepalis, 3,762 Nepalese, 132 from SAARC countries and 111 foreign nationals visited the park. Due to lack of physical infrastructure along with propaganda, the number of tourists here is very low. After the corona infection, the number of tourists started to increase, but it has started to stabilize again.
'The number of foreigners has increased slightly, but domestic tourists have decreased,' said Purushottam Wagle, conservation officer of the park, 'Overall, the number of tourists is less than last year.' Due to the problem of traffic, it is difficult to take the safari vehicle inside, so it is being closed.
Conservation officer Wagle says that due to lack of publicity about the park and lack of physical infrastructure, tourists have not been able to enter. "There are no quality hotels in the vicinity of the park, if hotels are opened, tourists will also be attracted," Wagle said, "The private sector should also pay attention to this, and increase tourist activities."
According to Parmanand Bhandari, tourism businessman Parmanand Bhandari says that the number of tourists has not increased due to problems in the border area and the instability of the road network. According to him, a large number of tourists used to come from the eastern region in the past years. But due to the problem of the road network, where there is fear of getting stuck in traffic for hours, the number of tourists in the area is very low. "Publicity has not been done properly, the park has not even been able to set up an information desk," Bhandari said, "It is very expensive when only one/two people come to visit, the park should think about how to manage it." The then Shuklaphanta Wildlife Reserve was upgraded to a national park on 9th February 2072. Since February 9, Bhimdatta Municipality has been conducting the festival every year. Tigers, elephants, rhinoceroses and large herds of twelve-horned elephants can be seen in Shuklaphanta. Apart from this, vast meadows, Ranital and other lakes, Krishnasar are also attractions here.
