The Far West Province government has brought a budget of 33 billion 476 million 48 thousand for the next financial year. The budget is one billion 846 million 52 thousand more than the current financial year.
In the budget statement presented by Minister of Economic Affairs Bahadur Singh Thapa in the Provincial Assembly, 19.83 billion 2 lakh 6 thousand i.e. 59.25 percent of the total budget has been allocated for capital while 10.20 billion 81 lakh 82 thousand i.e. 30.49 percent has been allocated for operational.
Sudurpaschim Province has given priority to physical infrastructure development. In the budget of the next financial year, 15.4 billion 3.17 thousand has been allocated for the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development. In the current financial year 081/82, the budget allocated for the ministry has been increased by about one billion. 14 billion 60 million 14 million was allocated for the current financial year.
It has been mentioned in the budget statement that projects of state pride have been prioritized under infrastructure development . Similarly, 1 billion 316.5 million has been allocated for provincial and local road improvement projects. It has been mentioned that priority has been given to the construction of roads connecting Saipal of Bajhang, Sigas of Baitadi and the center of Api Himal Rural Municipality of Darchula. It is said that a legal provision will be made to create the role of provincial assembly members in the selection, monitoring and evaluation of infrastructure development projects. Also, 10 crores have been allocated for the sustainability of the completed irrigation scheme.
In the Ministry of Social Development, the budget has been increased compared to the current financial year . 7 billion seven crore 4 lakh 6 thousand has been allocated for the Ministry of Social Development . Kolti in Bajura, Gokuleswar in Darchula, Belauri in Kanchanpur and Lamkichuha in Kailali are said to be upgraded to state level hospitals . It is mentioned that Bayalpata Hospital of Achham will be brought under the province by legalization. Jogbuda in Dadeldhura and Lamkichuha Hospital in Kailali are said to be made into provincial hospitals.
3 billion 30 million 10 allocated under the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives, one local level, two production, one hundred and seventy-six commercial pockets will be built and one hundred and seventy-six agricultural and animal technicians will be mobilized . Agricultural digitization, veterinary emergency service with ambulance service in Kailali, operation of mobile pesticide testing service, production of 50 million fish sawdust, fish productivity increase plan in natural lake, declaration of 20 local levels of high Himalayan district as a natural area are the programs of agriculture and animal husbandry.
Agricultural ambulance in remote districts, Bhimdatta Pant agricultural promotion program, program to discourage the trend of keeping land fallow in hilly districts, agricultural program targeted at Badimalika and Khaptad area, agricultural and livestock industries are mentioned in the budget statement. There is a plan to provide subsidy on agricultural loan interest in the next financial year as well. For which it is mentioned that 138.5 million has been allocated .
Two billion 34 crore 48 lakh 94 thousand allocated budget under the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forestry and Environment under the Chief Minister's Poverty Alleviation and Small Enterprise Program, it is said to establish a herb processing center in Dadeldhura.
It is mentioned that the budget has been allocated to study the feasibility of cable car in Khaptad, Badimalika, Malikarjun, Ramaroshan with the slogan of tourism infrastructure prosperity. Similarly, 7 crore 25 lakhs have been allocated for tourism in Badimalika area.
MP Om Vikram Bhat of the main opposition party Maoist Center said that the budget was presented without ensuring budget resources, not being implemented, and not addressing the primary needs of the province . Another opposition party MP Naresh Kumar Shahi said that the budget statement was not encouraging, budget allocation for big projects was not seen and new programs were not prioritized. He said that more can be said after the detailed program booklet.
