Majhgaon Airport: After the army vacated the land, the way for runway construction was opened

The long-standing land dispute for the construction of Majhagaon airport has been resolved. The dispute was resolved after the Nepali Army left the land under Shuklaphanta National Park for the sake of the airport. The land of Ratna Watika up to the entrance of the park, which is being used by the army, has been left for the airport.

Currently, the airport construction company is temporarily working on the Gherbar. 'Now the construction work of the airport has gone ahead completely,' said Majhgaon Airport Project Chief Meenraj Ojha, 'now the subbase work will also be started in the remaining area.' Although the runway should be 1,525 meters, the construction company was only working on 1,300 meters. The runway is being paved in that area . Ojha said that till now the work of apron and taxiway and 500 meters of runway has been completed. "Now the work of remaining 225 meters of runway will also start," said Ojha, the head of the project, "The work of the runway will be completed within the additional time". The extended time will end next January . Now the land left by the army for work is in the name of the army. Ojha said that the process of officially bringing the land under the name of the airport has been started after evaluating the environmental impact. "Runway construction and land acquisition work will go forward together," he said, "More work will be done after the completion of the EIA."

The land from 1300 meters to 500 meters long where the runway is currently being paved will be named after the airport. There is also Ratnabatika in that area. Locals have planted trees in it. EIA is also required to remove those plants. But for the construction of the runway, since there is no plant, the work can be started immediately. The goal is to complete soil filling in the area by June. Ojha said that the construction of the terminal building is also included in the program of the Civil Aviation Authority for the next fiscal year. As the DPR is being prepared for that, after the budget is allocated, the work will be carried forward accordingly.

This airport is being built with the investment of local, state and federal governments. According to which, 15 percent of Bhimdatta Municipality, 10 percent of Dodhara Chandni Municipality, 25 percent of Sudurpaschim Province Government and 50 percent of Federal Government will be invested . Accordingly, a contract has been signed for 456 million 456 million for the construction of the runway in the first phase. A contract agreement was signed with Kancharam/KS/Uma & Company in January 078 to complete the work within three years . But the deadline has been extended by one year for not getting the land. The project chief Ojha says that the work will be completed within the extended time.

'The terminal building will also be built with the investment of all three levels of government, for that, correspondence has been sent to the local level and state government to allocate the necessary budget,' Ojha said, 'Accordingly, a letter of commitment for budget allocation has also been received.' He said that the contract process will proceed only after the local level and the state government allocate the budget. He said that if the budget is not allocated, the contract process cannot be started immediately.
