It is believed that a new dimension will be added to the development of the Gaddachouki-Attaria road section of the East-West Highway.

In the budget statement of the financial year 082/83, it is believed that the construction of road infrastructure will take a leap after the allocation of 21 billion 19 million for the upgrading of four-lane roads. After the road of 'Asian Highway Standard' is built, it will help the development of Far West. According to the budget, road infrastructure works will be done in a modern way.

Road Division Office Mahendranagar Information Officer Engineer Harish Prasad Joshi said that the 49 km road from Gaddachouki to Attaria will be upgraded from next year after the budget is ensured. He said that the development assistance implementation division under the road department will open a separate office for road upgrading and will proceed with the work. The branch carries out major road, bridge construction and maintenance works in the country.

'Since it is a big multi-year project, the road upgrading work will be started from the next year by opening a separate office', he said, 'Before starting the road upgrading work, the detailed project report (DPR), environmental impact assessment (IE), environmental impact assessment (EIA) etc. will be completed, the contract process will go into the contract process. He said that it will be of "asphalt concrete" technology. He said that it will take three to five years to complete the project. Traders, intellectuals and people's representatives of this area have expressed their happiness as the work of upgrading the road, which has been in progress for years, will be completed.

Political and social leader Lal Bahadur Singh said that the far western region will take a leap in development after the road upgrading works. "The dry port is under construction. Once it is built, large transport vehicles will be able to operate. The current road is narrow," he said. "The project should not remain as a paper waste, the project work should be carried out as soon as possible", he said. Tek Bahadur Hamal, the then chairman of Jhalari VDC, takes the task of allocating the budget for road projects positively.

'Currently, the traffic pressure on the road is high', he said, 'because there are no roads that can handle the traffic, accidents are increasing, the traffic situation is the same, the problem will be solved after the road is upgraded.' Coordinator of Social Development Committee of Shuklaphanta Municipality, Ramesh Bahadur Air, said that the Gaddachouki-Attaria road section is a road that connects to the border of India and plays an important role in trade, tourism and cultural exchange between Nepal and India.

'Attaria is the main traffic junction of this road section in the far west', he said, 'From here the roads leading to the hilly districts including Kailali and Kanchanpur diverge, and it is the confluence point of the East-West Highway and the Bhimdatta Highway. The work of upgrading the road should have been done earlier, but it has been included in the budget, but the implementation aspect should be improved.

Madanraj Bhatt, a prominent businessman of Modern Enterprises in Jhalari Bazar, says that the East-West Highway is the 'lifeline' of the country. "The Gaddachowki Attaria road section of the East-West Highway connects Attaria, Dhangadhi, Mahendranagar, the main cities of the Terai in the Far West," he said, "Upgrading will reduce traffic congestion, reduce the risk of accidents, save time, and become the basis of economic, social, cultural and regional national development." Its construction started in 2019. The Chisapani-Gadachowki section of the East-West Highway was started in 1996 and completed in 2000 with the help of the Government of India. In the road section of the highway, the Government of India constructed 22 motorized bridges along the road.
