Black paper has started on the Garitand-Kamalbazar-Banskanda road under the Chisapani-Jangalghat-Mangalsen road in Achham.
Panchayat leader of Achham Hari Prasad Bhandari developing the concept of Chisapani-Jangalghat-Mangalsen road in Kailali on 24th Chait 2024. From the road to the headquarters, Mangalsen, they carried the jeep somewhere and drove it somewhere.
About 58 years ago, in the year 2028, the President of Acham District Panchayat, Bhandari, took a jeep from Tikunia, bordering with Kailali, to Mangalsen to convey the message that a short distance road connecting the mountains with the Terai should be built quickly. The jeep was taken to Mangalsen by carrying carts on the shoulders and carrying goods in the villages. According to the same concept, the Garitand-Kamalbazar-Baskada road section is being constructed.
Chisapani-Jangalghat-Mangalsen road has 110 kilometers of road in Acham section. According to Infrastructure Development Office Achham, last year Physical Infrastructure Development Minister of Sudurpaschim Province Prakash Bahadur Deuba laid the foundation stone of Garitand-Kamalbazar-Banskanda 23 km road under Chisapani Mangalsen road in Achham. In the Kailali area of the road section, there is a few kilometers of tarmac, but there is no tarmac in the Achham section.
The cost of the said 23 km road project is 69 crore 43 lakh 53 thousand 966 rupees. PK Construction Services is working through Infrastructure Development Office Sanfebagar. There is an agreement that the black paper of that section should be completed by December 29, 2082.
Yagya Prasad Dhakal, head of Kamalbazar Municipality, said that the work is being done at a fast pace with the help of the locals. We are satisfied with the work done so far. Now, it has been connected with the tarred road up to the municipality center," he said.
According to him, this road connecting the mountains from the banks of the Karnali river is the shortest highway. As this highway cannot be built, the residents of Achham now have to travel more than 300 kilometers to reach Achham via Dadeldhura and Doti Chichhol. A very long distance has to be covered to go to most parts of Bajura, Humla and Kalikot which are connected to Achham. If the Chisapani-Mangalsen road is constructed, this distance will be shortened by 200 km. This road is important for 22 local levels of Kailali and Surkhet and Achhami.
