The District Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Project Implementation Unit has been established to speed up the reconstruction and repair of private residences of earthquake victims in Bajhang. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority is going to start the reconstruction work by establishing an office.
Minister of Home Affairs Ramesh Lakhtar has inaugurated the office established in Jaipruthvi Municipality-9 Dewal of Bajhang on Friday. Speaking at the program, the minister said that the rebuilding campaign for the damage caused by the earthquake in West Nepal has started. According to him, an office has been established in the district to speed up the work of private housing reconstruction after arranging the necessary standards and regulations for the reconstruction.
Focusing on the damage caused by the earthquake in West Nepal, he informed that the authority will also establish offices in Achham and Jajarkot and rebuild them. "The implementation unit will coordinate the reconstruction of government buildings along with the reconstruction of private residences," he said. He said that the local level should play a role in speeding up the reconstruction campaign by identifying and selecting the beneficiaries.
The executive head of the authority, Bhishma Kumar Bhusal, said that there will be four employees in the office, including a chief and a technician. Bhusal said that a team including technicians who have gained experience in reconstruction after the earthquake of 2072 will coordinate with district administration office and local level technicians to rebuild. More than 12,000 houses in Bajhang district were damaged due to earthquakes that passed through Doti in 079 and Bajhang in 080.
Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Project Implementation Unit has informed that the earthquake reconstruction and rehabilitation project will be strengthened by rebuilding the houses that were completely damaged by the earthquake and repairing the cracked houses.
