32-year-old Kavita Swar of Vinapur was beaten to death by the locals on January 25 after tying her hands like this. They beat him for setting fire to straw. Swar's head, chest and legs were injured due to the beating. He is being treated regularly at Maya Metro Hospital in Dhangadhi, Kailali.
A fire broke out in a pile of straw collected by local Meena Chaudhary. At that time, Swar was returning home with mustard oil through the same road. Locals tied him up and beat him on the allegation that Swar had started the fire.
'I was returning after burning mustard oil, there was a fire in the straw in front of a person's house,' Swar said, explaining the situation of the day of the incident, 'Seeing the oil spilled on my hand, the villagers attacked me, tied my hands, and some hit me with sticks and some with sticks.' His head, chest and legs were injured. She said that she immediately went to Dhangadhi for treatment and is now undergoing regular check-ups. Her husband Gyanu is in India for work. A son and a daughter live with him at home.
According to the ward president of Belauri-2, Kalveer Chaudhary, there have been regular incidents of fire in the area since the last three months. On January 25, the locals said that after seeing a horse running near the fire, he may have been beaten up. According to him, fire broke out in eight houses and straw piles near the house in a period of three months.
Swar has lodged a complaint with the district police in the name of those who beat her. According to the police, a complaint has been lodged against 13 people. Among them, the police said that they have detained seven people. "We have received a complaint from a victimized woman, we are investigating," said SP Chakraraj Joshi of District Police Kanchanpur, "We have also detained some people."
Police have detained 7 people on Saturday. The police said that efforts are being made to arrest the other persons mentioned in the complaint.
