A woman who went to cut apples in the forest was attacked by a bear and seriously injured. 28-year-old Ankira Rokaya of Khaptadchanna Rural Municipality-4 was seriously injured by the bear attack.
Ankira was attacked by a bear on Wednesday morning in Bedubhuwan forest in Ward No. 5 of Khaptadchanna. Subhas Rokaya, the nephew of the injured person, informed that he was injured in various parts of his body.
After learning that he was attacked, Rokaya said that he was rescued with the help of a woman who went to cut apples with him and a dog who was with him. "If it was not with other people and the dog, it would have been difficult to meet him," he said. As the injured could not be treated at District Hospital Bajhang, they have been referred to Kathmandu.
20 days ago, three bears were seen together in the area and after the bears started attacking, the locals said that the locals are afraid to go to the forest to cut grass and firewood.
After the snowfall in the high Himalayan region, the locals speculate that the bears may have come from Khaptad National Park and nearby forests to the forests near the settlement.
