Free blood in government hospitals in Far West

Patients will get free blood in all government hospitals in Far West. The state government has arranged to provide free blood in all government hospitals. Earlier, the patient had to pay Rs 1,150 to the blood transfusion center for a pint of blood.

Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah announced on Sunday that through a program organized by the Ministry of Social Development, the work of providing free blood to all government hospitals has started. 

Chief Minister Shah and Social Development Minister Meghraj Khadka started the service by donating free blood to Roshan Chaudhary, a relative of Nirmal Chaudhary, who is being treated at Seti Provincial Hospital on Sunday.

The Ministry of Social Development has entered into an agreement with the Provincial Blood Transfusion Center Dhangadhi, all the nine district branches of Nepal Red Cross Society and Tikapur sub-branch for the management of providing free blood to patients undergoing treatment in government hospitals.

According to Dharnidhar Pant, head of the State Transfusion Center, the center collected and distributed 12,000 pints of blood in the last financial year. He said that the target is to collect and distribute 15,000 pints of blood in the current financial year.
