The session of Nepal Communist Party UML District Committee, Bajhang, which has not been held since 2077, was concluded on Sunday. The convention also elected a new leadership under the chairmanship of Dil Bahadur Bhandari.

Due to internal disputes within the party, there was a long series of setting the date of the UML convention and postponing the convention since 2078 after the process of selecting the new leadership was not agreed upon. The session was adjourned only twice in January and February 2080. Earlier, in the year 2078 and 2079, the date of promotion was set and postponed in the middle.

This time, the leaders agreed to conclude the session through the process of election after the leadership could not be elected by consensus in the session that started on November 24th. The results of the election held on November 28 for various positions were announced on Sunday.

According to the results announced by the Election Committee of UML, Bhandari has won by 55 votes behind the candidate for the post of President, Kalak Bahadur Khadka. According to the election committee, Khadka got 153 votes while Bhandari got 208 votes. Bhandari, who was elected to the post of president, is one of the old leaders of UML Bajhang, while Khadka joined UML from Maoist after Maoist and UML formed CPN. He is also the current president of UML Bajhang.

In the same convention, Lal Bahadur Bista, the former chairman of the district committee, has been elected as the vice-chairman of the district committee. He has defeated Prayagraj Joshi, the former president of Durgathali Rural Municipality. Nayan Bahadur Bohra has been elected as secretary defeating Lokendra Bahadur Singh. Both of them are students from political background. Similarly, Pankaj Bhandari has been elected as the open deputy secretary and Radha Bista has been elected as the female deputy secretary.

The newly elected secretary Nayan Bohra informed that the district committee of 75 members and the seven-member accounting commission under the chairmanship of Gajendra Khatri have been selected by the convention.
