Umesh Singh of Jai Prithvi Municipality-1, Kailash has complained that the leaders do not care about the suffering of the people.

Last July, he and his five relatives were returned after reaching Kathan after a 12-day trek to fetch water from Mansarovar Lake in Tibet, China. After the Chinese security personnel did not allow them to go to Mansarovar, they returned empty-handed after a difficult journey to Urai Bhanjang, which is 5,220 meters above sea level.

Only in the month of July, more than 150 pilgrims like Umesh, who went to fetch water from Bajhang, were turned away from Kathan in China's Pulan County. The Chinese security personnel took control of some mobile phones and deleted photos and videos. At that time, this topic which became the headline of the national media, said that he was disappointed that it would not be raised anywhere during the visit of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to China.

At that time, the media also wrote that the bringing of water, which has been brought since our ancestors, was banned. It was hoped that the Prime Minister would raise this issue during his visit and it would be easier next year. It's useless for us to hope!'He said, 'It's been 6 years since our worship was stopped, but the leader didn't care.' Kulpuja has been stopped for 6 years . Even if the border is opened, the locals and people's representatives of Bajhang have repeatedly drawn the attention of officials including the Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs to create an environment to bring water if the traditional religious activities are disrupted. Locals who went from Bajhang had repeatedly drawn the attention of former Prime Minister Deuba about this problem.

Prime Minister Oli, who came to Bajhang to address a public meeting aimed at the local level elections in Chait 2079, also said that he would open the doors of religious tourism to Kailash Mansarovar through the construction of the Chainpur-Taklakot road connecting China from Bajhang. Even before the Prime Minister went on a visit to China, the people's representatives and locals of Bajhang had submitted a letter to draw attention to this issue.

We also sent a letter of attention to the Prime Minister's economic adviser mentioning all the background. We said that Khutia, Dipayal, Chainpur-Taklakot road should also be included in the framework. At that time, they said that this is a common issue, it will happen,' said Bhanubhakta Joshi, a member of the House of Representatives of Bajhang, who is also a former minister, 'but we were not heard.'

According to Masto culture, worshiping the gods requires water from Mansarovar once a year. After the deity incarnated in the dhamis of most of the deities, they are considered to be real dhamis only after taking a bath in Mansarovar and visiting Kailash. Even after becoming Dhami, there is a rule that one should take a bath in Mansarovar and circumambulate Kailash every two/three years.

From Bajhang, people go to take water from Mansarovar on foot. Dhami and priests along with the local people who believe in the deity go and stay on the path that is said to be set by the deity. One has to go on foot from Taklakot via Urai in Bajhang following the path followed by Laga Devta (a deity associated with Masto culture) and stay at Gauriodhar . There is a rule that one should take a bath in Mansarovar, fetch water and return to Gouriodhar after worshiping.

Before Corona, based on the temporary entry permit given by the Bajhang District Administration Office, the locals of Bajhang were allowed to enter Mansarovar easily through the same gate. When the border was opened last May, Bajhangi, who was hoping that Kulpuja would start after the border was opened, was again disappointed as China allowed entry only up to Taklakot.

Meen Bahadur Sih, president of Bajhangi Samaj Kathmandu, said that he has been running to various leaders for two years to create a comfortable environment to bring water from Mansarovar. "If the leaders are responsible for the problems of the people, this problem is not a big deal," he said.
