'नाग पूजाको प्रचलन वैदिककालदेखि सुरु भएको हो । वैदिक मान्यताअनुसार नागलाई सर्पको ‘राजा’ मानिन्छ । नाग रिसाए भने पानीको अभाव हुने भएकाले पानीका लागि पनि नागलाई खुसी पार्न पूजा गर्ने परम्परा बसेको हो । बराहपुराणमा उल्लेख भएअनुसार श्रावण शुक्ल पञ्चमीमा नागराजसँग ब्रह्माको संवाद भएकाले पनि आजको दिन नागपूजाका लागि प्रसिद्ध मानिन्छ,' उनले भने ।
