Professors of Tribhuvan University who went on study leave and did not return to service for a long time have started returning the money in a big way. After the government took interest in the misuse of study leave and harming the university, the professors who did not return to service have started returning the money.

According to the university, 41 professors have returned the money so far. Of this, 104.656 million rupees have been deposited in the university's pension fund. Out of 191 professors on study leave, 41 have returned the money, said the coordinator of the investigation committee, Dr. Jeevan Kafle. According to him, 62 people have applied to the committee for the return of the money. Of these, the committee has issued letters to 54 people.

The Ministry of Education and Sports has also directed professors who went on study leave and did not return to return the money as per the agreement. Coordinator Kafle informed that the process of refunding money from professors who went on study leave and did not return to service is ongoing and called on those who did not return the money to pay the money immediately.

The university has stated that it has incurred a loss of more than 2 billion rupees due to professors not returning to service. According to the university's rules, teachers and employees are entitled to study leave for 5 years. Acting Vice-Chancellor of the university, Dr. Sushil Bahadur Bajracharya, has urged professors who went on study leave and did not return to service to return the money as soon as possible as per the rules. He said that all the procedures have been completed as per the law and notices have been published repeatedly. He said that if they do not come in contact within the stipulated time, it will be done as per the law.

Following the initiative of the ministry, TU has formed an investigation committee to search for professors who misused study leave and recover money from them. After the news related to this was published, TU has formed a committee to search for teachers and employees who went on study leave and did not return. A 3-member committee was formed under the coordination of Kafle. The committee includes Krishnahari Acharya and Deepak Tiwari. During the investigation, the committee found that about 398 professors had misused their study leave. The coordinator of the committee, Dr. Kafle, said that the university is facing financial losses as well as academic problems and moral losses due to the increasing number of those who went abroad on study leave and did not return.

The TU Executive Council formed the investigation committee on 25 Poush, 2081. The report prepared by the investigation committee shows that 191 professors have not returned and 207 professors have not completed their studies.

The investigation committee has been repeatedly issuing notices to recover the money from professors who have gone on leave and not returned. Preparations are underway to make the names of those who have not returned the money despite such requests public. The committee has stated that it will soon submit the study report to the university. The university has stated that a professor must return a minimum of 1 million to a maximum of 5 million.
