Nepal Police has clarified that there is no legal provision for citizens to receive special allowances or facilities when the traffic police collect fines for violating traffic rules.

A press release issued by Nepal Police Central Spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General of Police Abinarayan Kafle clarified that all fines collected by the traffic police will be deposited directly into the revenue account of the Government of Nepal.

Stating that news without truth, facts and official information negatively affects trust in public institutions and unnecessarily makes administrative processes controversial, he informed that traffic police employees will not receive any additional fees or facilities for fines. The statement said, 'There is no legal provision for traffic police to receive any additional fees (facilities) for collecting fines.'

The police have requested all media and social media users to verify the facts from the relevant bodies before publishing or broadcasting news and information and to disseminate information responsibly.
