Bhaktapur Municipality has allocated a budget of Rs 2.55 billion for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84. Deputy Mayor Rajni Joshi presented the estimated income/expenditure budget of Bhaktapur Municipality for the fiscal year 2083/84 at the twentieth municipal assembly meeting of Bhaktapur Municipality.
Deputy Mayor Joshi said that a budget of Rs 2.55 billion has been allocated for the fiscal year 2083/84 to be managed from Bhaktapur Municipality's internal resources, revenue distribution from the federal and provincial governments, various grants, and the current year's bank balance.
Of the allocated budget, Rs 1.55 billion 89 million, or 61.13 percent, has been allocated for the current budget, Rs 933 million 31 million, or 36.60 percent, and Rs 58 million (2.27 percent) for the financial budget.
In the budget statement, 22.06 percent of the total budget, or 562.74 million rupees, has been allocated for various educational development and education sectors.
Similarly, to modernize the Khwap Hospital run by the municipality and expand specialist services, a total of 230 million rupees has been allocated for MRI services and ICU services within this fiscal year. 356.4 million rupees, or 13.97 percent of the budget, has been allocated for overall programs in the health sector.
The municipality has allocated a total of 79 million rupees for heritage reconstruction and cultural preservation in the coming year, 350 million rupees, or 13.72 percent, for physical infrastructure construction, 38 million rupees for tourism promotion, 231.58 million rupees for environmental improvement and waste management, 375 million rupees for sports development and infrastructure construction, and 4 million rupees to strengthen the 'Disaster Management Fund' for keeping people safe, rescue and rehabilitation during disasters.
Bhaktapur Municipality has allocated the necessary budget for programs including infrastructure development and marketing, subsidies and grants, organic farming and environmental protection, institutional support and studies under the agriculture sector.
