The traffic police have arrested 10 people on charges of causing unnecessary trouble and harassment to passengers leaving the Kathmandu Valley.

A team deployed from the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office arrested them after complaints from the public that employees, drivers and co-drivers of bus counters operating in the Koteshwor and Jadibuti areas were causing unnecessary trouble and harassment to passengers.

The arrested are Surya Bahadur Devkota, 40, of Dhanusha, Prakash Shiwakoti, 32, of Dolakha, Haribhajan Thapa, 55, of Bhaktapur, Dilli Prasad Lamichhane, 38, of Dolakha, and Suresh Tamang, 28, of Sindhupalchowk, informed Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office spokesperson Naresh Raj Subedi.

Similarly, 27-year-old Tilak Kumar Thapa of Sindhuli, 26-year-old Khadka Bahadur Tamang of Dolakha, 36-year-old Dor Kumar Shrestha of Sindhuli, 45-year-old Nandalal Budhathoki of Okhaldhunga and 36-year-old Rajesh Sapkota of Sindhupalchowk have been taken into custody by the police.

They were arrested for engaging in illegal activities such as harassing passengers and snatching bags. Spokesperson Subedi said that all those arrested have been sent to the District Police Complex, Kathmandu for necessary investigation and further legal action.
