The body of a woman who had been missing for 12 days has been found in Kathmandu.
According to SP Pawan Bhattarai of the District Police Range, Kathmandu, the body of Sarita Tiwari of Tarakeshwor Municipality-3, Tinpiple was found buried. The police have arrested Anil Dangol of Tokha Municipality-2 on charges of involvement in her murder. The police claim that he has confessed to his involvement in the murder.
According to the police, a search and rescue operation was launched after Tiwari, who was travelling by bus on April 11, was not found. Since then, the police say that various methods have been used to search for her.
‘This afternoon, after the body was found in the Shivapuri forest, we have sent it to the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj for a post-mortem,’ Bhattarai said, ‘We are conducting further investigations.’ According to the officers involved in the investigation, it appears that she was killed by pelting stones in the initial investigation.
Tiwari and Dangol had known each other for a year. The police have not yet revealed the reason for the murder. The court has allowed the police to keep Dangol in custody for 7 days for a detailed investigation into the crime of manslaughter.
