Traffic police have taken action against 2,746 drivers in the last 24 hours.
During the checks conducted by the traffic police at various places in the Kathmandu Valley from Monday morning to this morning, 79 drivers were taken action against those who were driving under the influence of alcohol (MPSE), 225 for ride sharing, 175 for running red lights, 148 for speeding, 324 for crossing lanes, 149 for using footpaths, 55 for not honking, 54 for getting on and off the bus, and 1,537 for other violations, informed Traffic Police Spokesperson and Superintendent of Police Naresh Raj Subedi.
He said, 'During the past 24 hours, 2,746 drivers in the valley have been taken action against those who violated traffic rules. 29,64,501 in revenue has been collected from the said action.'
Driving under the influence of alcohol is against the law and punishable, and if the driver suspects that he or she has consumed alcohol or drugs, the traffic police have urged passengers to immediately report the incident to the nearest police office, the traffic control room hotline number 103, and the police hotline number 100.
