Traffic jams have increased on various road sections of the city as heavy rain continues in Kathmandu.

Traffic management has been challenged as the rain has affected traffic movement. According to Naresh Raj Subedi, Superintendent of Police of the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, during inspections of various places including the Koteshwor area, traffic jams have increased.

According to him, additional problems have been seen in vehicle operation due to water accumulating on the roads due to the rain. This disrupts the traffic flow and increases the risk of accidents, so the traffic police have urged everyone to drive cautiously. They have urged everyone to drive patiently and travel safely.

'Traffic police have been mobilized at all places, but the pressure of vehicles has increased due to the rain,' said Superintendent of Police Subedi, 'You should travel safely by following traffic rules. A hasty mindset can lead to accidents.'

Due to the risk of trees falling on the roadside, electricity and telephone wires being snapped, poles falling and roofs of houses being blown off due to the wind, the traffic police have requested that people avoid unnecessary travel as much as possible and exercise caution if they have to travel.

Similarly, the main reasons for the increased risk of accidents during the rainy season are the driver's hasty state of mind, the tendency to change lanes, and violation of traffic lights and signals, according to the traffic police. In addition, it is said that the possibility of accidents will increase further if water accumulates in potholes on the roads of Kathmandu.

Water has accumulated on the roads due to the rain in places including Maitighar, Putalisadak and Tinkune.
